The Self Service % report appears on your dashboard with a 30 day view, by default. Would you be interested in seeing this for Q1 2014? How about a weekly trend? The report dates and formatting can be customized to your needs, by following the steps below:
From your dashboard within GoodData, click on Reports
Click on Create Report
From the What, search for “% Solved” and choose the basic version (with no date filters). The Detail panel shows how the chosen metric is calculated (which in this case, is two other metrics being divided). If you choose one of the other metrics in this list, you will see that some have very specific date filters hard-coded into the metric. For this exercise we focus on the basic version, leaving you additional flexibility to choose dates later on.
Click Done, and you will see your % for all time (there are no date filters at this point).
Click Filter, and choose the first Filter type, to narrow down this measure to a specific date range
Choose “Topic Created Date”, and click Select. (Alternatively, you could choose Weeks, Months, Quarters, or Years).
Click on “Floating Range” on the right (it appears grayed out, but lights up when you click it). Choose Range, and fill in a custom number of days (90 works for this example). Notice that the “Preview” section shows you which dates will appear in the report based on your selections. Click Apply to see the report.
You’re now looking at your Self Service % of the last x number of days. But what if you need more detail? Want to see it week by week? Click on How, and from the left panel choose Date Dimension (Topic Created). Choose Week (Mon-Sun)/Year, and click Done. You should now have a table, listing the Self Service % week-by-week, for the last 90 days. In my example I’ve also deleted the 90-day filter.
Suppose now you’d like this report to have a visual aspect, so the user can quickly see the trends. Click the Line Chart icon, in the row of formatting options above, and you now have a line chart.
Give your report a title, and click Create. You now have a trended report showing Self Service % by week.
